Faculty Profile:

Rasha is a Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology, Ain Shams University, Cairo. In addition to her usual commitments, she has various administrative roles at national, regional and international levels. She is an ASPED founding member, Deputy Chair of its Education Committee since 2012 and a Steering Committee member of ASPED-ESPE School since 2015.

Professor Hamza has been a faculty member in ESPE schools, hosted two ESPE Winter Schools and contributed to the ESPE e-learning program. Recently she was elected as the Deputy Chair of the ESPE Education and Training Committee. At national level, Rasha is the Chair of Education Committee of Egyptian Society for Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes and has been involved in Faculty Leadership Development Project. She is an editorial board member of the Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism, published a lot of articles in Pediatric Endocrinology and has been a guest speaker in various national and international conferences.

Dr. Abdelhadi Habeb

Faculty Profile:

Abdelhadi is the Chairman of Paediatrics at the National Guard Hospital, Madinah, KSA. He was trained the UK and practiced as consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist for 5 years before moving to Madinah in 2007.

Dr Habeb set and chaired a number of committees and led quality improvement projects in the UK and KSA. He lectured in various countries and served as faculty and member of scientific committees for all previous ASPED conferences. Currently, he is the coordinator of the ASPED-ESPE school and a member of the steering committee for the ASPED – ISPAD Diabetes Academy. Dr Habeb is a fellow and examiner for the UK Royal College of Pediatrics and Child health, a member of the ESPE education & training committee and various scientific societies.  He is an editor for the LJM and reviewer for various journals. His research focuses on monogenic diabetes and published in different aspects of Paediatric Endocrinology.

Faculty Profile:

Prof. Amaka trained as a radiologist in Sheffield, then joined the Institute of Child Health / Great Ormond Street Hospital in 2000 as a clinical research fellow. In 2005 she was awarded a University of London PhD for her thesis, “Optimisation of the digital radiographic imaging of suspected non-accidental injury”.

Returning to Sheffield in 2009 when she was awarded a Higher Education Funding Council of England Clinical Senior Lecturer position, Amaka is conducting research related to the paediatric musculoskeletal system.  She was promoted to Chair in January 2020.

Amaka’s main research interest lies in the imaging of suspected child abuse and skeletal dysplasias and in methods of determining which children have fragile bones prone to fracture and which do not. More specifically, she is concentrating on the optimisation of current techniques and development of novel methods of distinguishing brittle from normal bones, in understanding the mechanisms of accidental injury in infants and young children and in improving the detection and dating of the subtle fractures seen in abuse. Other areas of research relate to optimising the diagnosis of vertebral fractures in children and developing an MRI-based scoring system for juvenile dermatomyositis.

Amaka is currently vice-chair of Sheffield Local Research Ethics Committee, Chair of the Skeletal Dysplasia Group for Teaching and Research, Chair of the European Society of Paediatric Radiologists’ Child Abuse Taskforce and Publications Committees and was the Royal College of Radiology 2013 Roentgen Professor – being the first female and first paediatric radiologist to receive this award.
